Masikhule Early Childhood Development Centre is launching a special R50 million appeal to be able to scale and provide critical food provisions to our most vulnerable groups across the country. We need your help! As we intensify our efforts to provide nutritious food to those who need it, we need food provisions as well as finances. Your financial contributions and donations of non-perishable food groceries and toiletries will help us to get provisions to our most vulnerable groups.
Masikhule ECD centre is registered as an organization not for gain under Section 21 of the Company’s Act with Registration number (98 24773/08). A registered Non Profit Organization (005-930) with the Department of Social Services and is exempted from income Tax under the provision of Section 18A of the income Tax Act. Our activities include upgrading standards of ECD programmes and practice. We facilitate the establishment of the child centred active learning environments through the outcomes based methodology, which includes the implementation of Curriculum Assessment Policy Statement and National Curriculum Framework. We provide the ECD committees with management skills necessary for effective running and sustainability of centres. Masikhule is currently managing 30 ECD sites that are participating in the IDT EPWP Programme and the Vodacom Change The World Programme.

One of the organization’s aims is to provide the EDC Educators with the necessary skills, knowledge and attitudes needed to effectively run the centres, providing for the needs of the children from birth to 9 years.

Apart from the ECD qualifications Masikhule also offers the family and community motivator’s programme (FCM), which focuses on non-centre based ECD provisioning. Non-centre based children then joins the main stream when they reach the school going age. Training covers issues of Child Abuse and neglect, HIV & AIDS, Poverty Alleviation and Education.
